An Older Driver Assessment makes most older drivers worried, nervous, anxious and/or stressed.
Yet most of my aged driver clientele enjoy my older driver assessments!
Heres what Google AI says about the NSW aged driver test.
With me, if you don’t pass an Older Driver Assessment first time, you can sit it again (and again!) until you do. I can and do help older drivers deepen and upgrade their driving skills, if necessary in a separate session.
Usually only the one session is needed. We do a bit of form-filling, then a ‘practice run’ and then an assessment run. Sessions usually take between one and two hours. I ask you to turn left, turn right and bring the car to a stop by the kerbside on suburban streets and multi-laned roads. You do not have to reverse. You do not fail if you don’t check over your shoulder nor if you indicate incorrectly. The practice run and the assessment run use the same streets. You do not have to remember which streets to use – that’s my job!
The practice run lets me see informally which, if any, skills you might need to upgrade. If you needed further practice before an assessment drive, we can arrange separate session(s).
I suggest that we meet at the carparks in Lismore, Ballina or Cas_ino from which the assessment starts and finishes – that helps you save a bit more money. Doing so also lets you settle into your car again. We use your car (unless there are medical conditions which suggest otherwise. My car is very easy and comfortable to drive.) Each drive takes about 20 minutes and meets Transport for NSW’s requirements.
I’ve been an Older Driver Assessor since 2010 and proprietor of the Professional Driving Consultancy (and its predecessor) since 1993. Helping older drivers is the role I’ve kept in my semi-retirement, one which I enjoy and one which, despite my own age, I hope to keep doing.
Beyond anything else, I do all that my 38 years’ experience has shown me to maximise your comfort and minimise your worry (if not your fear!).
Fear is your real enemy. I help you defeat it and thereby help you enjoy two more years of (relative!) freedom.
